Pastor Jonathan Zielske
Serving as a Pastor for the first time in Wisconsin, it’s fun to be able to claim my roots as having been born in Green Bay and baptized on the day of the infamous Ice Bowl on December 31, 1967. Though I have to admit, I have spent the majority of my life in Minnesota. I attended Concordia, Moorhead for three years before transferring and graduating from North Park College in Chicago. I went on from there to seminary at the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago and was married to my high school sweetheart, Anne, after my first year. We moved back to Minnesota for my first call which was to Christiania Lutheran Church in Lakeville. My next call was to Gethsemane, followed by Hope Lutheran, on the East Side of Saint Paul. During this time, Anne and I were living and raising our three daughters, Rachael and Micah, twins who are going to attend Gustavus Adolphus in the fall, and LeighAnna, who will be a junior at Central High School in Saint Paul. Most recently, I have served two other congregations as their interim pastor and I am enjoying doing the same here at Holy Cross. I am passionate about doing justice, loving mercy, and walking humbly with God along with running, collecting baseball cards, watching the Twins, playing soccer, camping and hiking with my family, trying to golf, and being outdoors.
Missy Klatt hails from New Jersey but she has became a Wisconsinite when she moved west to marry Don over 20 years ago. Don and Missy have one son, Corey who is a college student. After dairy farming for several years they both work in town and farm on the side.
After many years of helping out with all of Corey’s activities, she has cut back on her volunteering however she still helps out with the JAM group at church. She is also a member of Palmer HCE (homemakers group). Her interests include photography, gardening, reading and crafts and she likes to travel and visit with friends all around the U.S. and the world. Unfortunately those trips are limited at best.
Missy’s furry child, Murphy, a golden lab can often
be found at work with her and is the official greeter
to all who venture into the office.

Growing up outside of Barron, Wisconsin, Marian went to a one-room country school for 8 years and graduated from Barron High School. Because of her Finnish heritage, she attended Suomi College in Hancock, Michigan for 2 years and then graduated from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota with a degree in Music Education.
Married to her husband, Jack for 53 years, they have six children (Julie Berends, Janet Mortenson, Amy Root, Henry, Peter and Anthony Schmitz), 10 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
Marian is retired from piano teaching and substitute teaching. Having been an Organist for 38 years and Choir Director for 37 years, she began playing organ at her home church, Bethany Lutheran, when in high school. When Marian began playing at Holy Cross, she and Emma Knoebel alternated between the 8:30 and 10:45 services, and the Choir did the same, singing every Sunday. When Emma became ill and retired, it was Marian who took the full-time position. Marian has also played for numerous weddings and funerals, including one Military funeral which was held at Holy Cross for a local serviceman. Since Holy Cross got the Clavinova, she seldom plays the organ and the choir sings downstairs.
Marian loves music and it has been a big part of her life at Holy Cross.
Brian has been a lifelong member of Holy Cross, being baptized and confirmed in the church, and now raising his own children, with his wife Laura, in this church. Brian grew up just south of Glenwood City on the family farm and continues to farm with his Dad, Scott, and brother, Travis. He is a 2002 graduate of Glenwood City High School. Brian also has a reptile collection that he does educational programs with and takes to the Wisconsin and Minnesota state fairs. Since 2013 Brian has served as a volunteer on the Glenwood City Ambulance Service as an EMT. He enjoys spending time outside, teaching his children about farming, hunting and fishing and loves any amount of time spent on a tractor.

Growing up in Glenwood City and as a member of Holy Cross, it was natural for us to return when we relocated back from the Twin Cities. I am a business owner and mom to one daughter. I enjoy baking and cooking, gardening, crocheting, sewing, and even working on the occasional DIY project. My days are filled with parenting, work, hobbies, and volunteering - all of which are important to me. My favorite thing to do is whatever I'm doing with my daughter. She's the light of my life, a true blessing and joy.
In addition to volunteering as Treasurer, Council Member, and VBS Coordinator at Holy Cross, I have been an active volunteer and member of the Glenwood City Ambulance Service since 2015.
