Welcome to Holy Cross!

Picture of Holy Cross Lutheran Church

Holy Cross is a place, but also a people. As a place, it is a Lutheran Church located in the beautiful community of Glenwood City. As a people, it is a gathering of sinners and saints — we believe we are both, at the same time.

We also believe that even though we are broken, that we are better together. We believe in the power of the Holy Spirit to gather us and enlighten us to grow into more faithful followers of Jesus Christ.

We gather on Sunday mornings and Monday evenings to worship God, to celebrate the presence of Jesus with us in Holy Communion, to hear that we are loved and forgiven, and to learn how to become better able to live out that message in our words and actions.

Thank you for taking a moment to learn more about Holy Cross! Please also consider checking out the Visitor Information page where you can learn a bit more about where and when and why we gather.

Wednesday Evening Worship resumes September 6 at 7:00 pm
The format and message will be much the same as Sundays (including frequent Holy Communion) but we'll shorten it up some. We trust that this will be a welcome alternative for our youth and busy parents!

Confirmation starts September 6 at 5:30 pm

Monday Morning Bible Study Resumes
What do you notice? What do you wonder? I frequently ask these kinds of questions at our 11:00 Monday Bible Study because being curious about scripture is always a good thing as the Holy Spirit will bless us with insights and wisdom for living. Our regular practice is to look at the upcoming Sunday's preaching text. It's informal and engaging and we'd love to have you join us!

Uncommon Conversations – On Monday Oct. 2 at 7:00 p.m. Please plan to come to hear from our Mayor Rob Unruh, Police Chief Joel Klatt and Chief Deputy Brent Standaert about their vision and hopes for our community and to share your own or ask them a question. We want to work together to build a healthy, strong community for all.  Brought to you by our Faith Uniting Neighbors Team.

High School Youth Group – October 4th at 7:30 p.m.  High School youth and their parents are invited to see what the plan is for the 2023-2024 year. If you have a friend that would like to join the fun, please bring them along.

You are invited to JAM!! (Jesus and Music)

JAM logoWho doesn’t love Jesus and who doesn’t love music? All students who are in grades 1-6 are invited to come to church right after school for a fun time of play, learning and singing! This is an extra opportunity to learn about the Bible and get to know others in our community in addition to Sunday School on Sunday morning.

Each Wednesday starting on September 13th, we will include a snack, a group fun activity, storytelling from the Bible, a craft and a short worship service including lots of music, skits, puppets, and prayer. Anyone who would enjoy learning and worshipping in this way is invited to come and join in the activities (parents, grandparents, friends and neighbors)!!

Spread the news, and invite anyone who you think would like to come and JAM!
