Dear Friends and Members of Holy Cross,
Thanks be to God and thanks to the diligence of so many of you, we have seen a leveling off of new COVID-19 cases being reported in the county and our community. And, because I am confident that when we gather we will continue to be cautious and respectful of one another and adhere to the necessary safety rules/guidelines we have set forth, with the approval of the Church Council, we are going to resume in person worship at 9:00 a.m.
We will also plan to continue to post our worship services online on YouTube (search for my channel under my name: Jonathan Zielske) and we will also be recording them for those who prefer Facebook live. Please note however that the YouTube option will not be pre-recorded so it will take some time to upload; we hope to have it available by noon on Sundays. For technical help on how to access either of these, please contact us in the church office.
Additionally, at this time we will not be offering Holy Communion nor a fellowship hour after worship. Please stay tuned for online Bible Studies and other opportunities for engagement as well as the anticipated resumption of Monday night worship and Sunday School.
We continue to be praying for everyone’s health and that you practice love of God, neighbor, and self in your day-to-day interactions with one another.
– Pastor Jonathan Zielske and the Church Council
UPDATE: With the rise in covid cases in the area we have implemented a new policy to take place immediately:
We are happy to be able to gather with you.
Vaccinated or not, please respect our requirement to wear a mask.
Life is too precious of a gift and cases are very high right now.
Thank you for your cooperation. Masks are available if you need one.
Worship is available on via Facebook!
While we are unable to gather in person, we are livestreaming our worship services on Facebook. Click here to go to our Facebook page.
Holy Cross is a place, but also a people. As a place, it is a Lutheran Church located in the beautiful community of Glenwood City. As a people, it is a gathering of sinners and saints — we believe we are both, at the same time.
We also believe that even though we are broken, that we are better together. We believe in the power of the Holy Spirit to gather us and enlighten us to grow into more faithful followers of Jesus Christ.
We gather on Sunday mornings and Monday evenings to worship God, to celebrate the presence of Jesus with us in Holy Communion, to hear that we are loved and forgiven, and to learn how to become better able to live out that message in our words and actions.
Thank you for taking a moment to learn more about Holy Cross! Please also consider checking out the Visitor Information page where you can learn a bit more about where and when and why we gather.

You are invited to JAM!! (Jesus and Music)
Who doesn’t love Jesus and who doesn’t love music? All students who are in grades 1-6 are invited to come to church right after school for a fun time of play, learning and singing! This is an extra opportunity to learn about the Bible and get to know others in our community in addition to Sunday School on Sunday morning.
Each Wednesday starting on September 16th, we will include a snack, a group fun activity, storytelling from the Bible, a craft and a short worship service including lots of music, skits, puppets, and prayer. Anyone who would enjoy learning and worshipping in this way is invited to come and join in the activities (parents, grandparents, friends and neighbors)!!
Spread the news, and invite anyone who you think would like to come and JAM!
