What Is The Annual Pledge Drive?

The Fruits of the Spirit Pledge Drive is held in the late summer/early fall to plan for our operating budget for the next fiscal year (beginning January 1, 2017).

We are calling it the Fruits of the Spirit Pledge Drive because we are not just focusing on the finances, we are including all the gifts our congregation brings to Holy Cross – time, talents, and treasures.

How Does The Pledge Drive Work?

All members and friends of Holy Cross are asked to make a financial pledge as well as a commitment to contribute your time and talents for the coming fiscal year. Each person or family fills out a pledge form indicating the amount of his or her pledge. Pledges can be paid all at once or over time throughout the year. As always, contributions to Holy Cross Lutheran Church are tax-deductible.

Why Should I Pledge Financial Support To Holy Cross?

A pledge is a promise, a promise to give back to God what is His. Your pledge to Holy Cross is a promise to share your resources within our faith community. Your pledge will allow us to budget for programs, staff, worship, outreach, and facility upkeep throughout the upcoming year. It takes a lot of money to keep the church programs running.

Beyond that, pledging allows us to reflect on the ways we, as individuals and as a community, can share some of what we have with others. Your pledge, then, is a promise to yourself, the congregation of Holy Cross, and our surrounding community.

How Much Should I Pledge?

That answer is completely up to you. Reflect on your values, your commitment, your income, and your needs. As you think about your pledge for 2017, please prayerfully consider "proportional giving." In other words, think about what percentage of your annual income you can give back to God by supporting the work of Holy Cross.

Ask yourself whether God is calling you to increase your giving by $5, $10, $20, or more per week. If we all look to increase our giving, imagine what God can do! It will bless Holy Cross and our community for years to come.

Remember the Feeding of the 5,000? Jesus greatly multiplied what was given to God to bless in prayer. If the Lord can feed 5000 with five loaves of bread and two fish, what we can do with his blessing is unlimited. And remember, what was left over was greater than they started with. Matthew 14:13-21
